Stephanie’s5-Point Plan for Perth

Core Services. Strong Finances. Real Accountability.

For a Change

Core Services First

Protect and prioritize the basics residents rely on every day: roads, sidewalks, fire protection, police, water and wastewater, snow removal and garbage pickup.

We will review non-core spending and any external grants - and redirect savings to keep essential services strong and reliable without continual tax pressure.

Better Financial Management

Control rising costs in administration and provide full public transparency on consulting, legal, and professional fees, and eliminate any discretionary spending that does not support core municipal responsibilities.

End wasting staff time and resources on studies and work projects that do not address core services.

Infrastructure That Works

Rebuild the Town’s financial reserves and focus capital spending on rebuilding and maintaining roads, sidewalks, parks, and other essential assets that keep Perth moving and growing.

Work with other levels of government to replace critical recreation infrastructure such as a new arena, pool, and community centre for year-round activities for families and seniors.

Attract Growth and Investment

Turn the Planning Department into a partner for facilitating investment and responsible development rather than a barrier.

By streamlining processes and focusing on projects that expand the tax base, we will bring new businesses, jobs and homes to Perth so services can be funded by growth rather than higher taxes on existing residents.

Accountability Starts at Council

The previous mayor and council increased property taxes by 25% while increasing their own compensation each year.

We will tie compensation to any future tax increases. If Council votes to raise property taxes above inflation, the mayor and councillors’ own compensation will be reduced. We need to incentivize responsible financial management, not reward irresponsible behaviour. If your taxes go up beyond inflation, Council’s pay goes down.
